Description

Speaker Dr Francis Lau Overview The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) published the Hong Kong Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance on 3 May 2024. The Hong Kong Taxonomy supports informed decision making on green and sustainable finance and facilitates relevant finance flows. Although adoption of the Hong Kong Taxonomy is voluntary, the HKMA encourages banks to adopt when labelling or assessing investments, as well as making disclosures. The Hong Kong Taxonomy intends to define green activities and reduce the risk of greenwashing. This training session aims to provide participants with practical highlights of the Hong Kong Taxonomy, its alignment with other taxonomies, and applications.
To help the participants in understanding the structure and impacts of the Hong Kong Taxonomy, the following topics will be covered:
1. Hong Kong Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance • Background • Objectives • Major content
2. Comparisons with other taxonomies • China’s Green Taxonomy • EU Taxonomy • Singapore-Asia Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance
3. Case studies for the Hong Kong Taxonomy • Green bonds • Green loans • Sustainable bonds • Sustainable loans • Sustainability-linked bonds (SLBs) • Sustainability-linked loans (SLLs)
4. Future development of the taxonomy Notice This course operates under a new Learning management system (LMS) that is designed to enhance your learning experience.
